Community awards honor Monroe's civic-minded


Some of Monroe's most civic-minded citizens were honored by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce at the annual Community Awards on Thursday, May 9, at Monroe High School.
Awards were given to:
Community Improvement Award
Given to a person, business or organization that makes a significant improvement to the community overall.
The City of Monroe
Ed Utterback Revitalization Award
Given to a person, business or organization that contributes to a significant positive economic impact on the community.
Sam's Cats and Dogs, Naturally
Community Caring Award
Given to a person, business or organization demonstrating a commitment to public service.
Sultan-Monroe Masonic Lodge #160
Outstanding Customer Service Award
Given to a person, organization or business that demonstrates a high level of commitment to customer care and service.
Clearview Spirits and Wines
Business Excellence Awards
Given to a person, business or organization that demonstrates ethics and commitment to employees, as well as community service through volunteerism and support of local organizations.
Monroe Public Schools
Entrepreneurial Spirit Award
Given to a person, business or organization that demonstrates commitment to Monroe by opening or operating a business in Monroe.
Twin Rivers Brewery and Tasting Room
Volunteer of the Year
Given to persons who demonstrate exceptional commitment to the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.
David Munson-David Munson and Associates, LLC
Ken Perrine-Kool Change Printing
Chamber Member of the Year
Mark Wright-Comcast Business Class
Jo Ann Carbonetti-Park Place Middle School
President's Award
The highest award given by the Chamber of Commerce, it is given to a person, business or organization that makes a significant contribution to the community and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce. The recipient serves as Grand Marshall of the Monroe Fair Days Parade.
Doug and Traci Hobbs-High Road Promotions
The Monroe Public Schools Foundation, the Monroe Women's Gospel Mission, the Monroe Lions Club, the Sultan-Monroe Masonic Lodge #160 and Valley General Hospital also gave awards to people who had done exception work in the community.
