Community votes SVEC principal best in Evening Magazine contest

Sky Valley Education Center principal Karen Rosencrans has taken best principal honors in Evening Magazine's Best of Western Washington voter-based contest this year.




Rosencrans started in the Monroe School District as assistant principal at Monroe High School 14 years ago, coming from an alternative education background in Wisconsin. She replaced Bill Hainer as SVEC principal when he retired, receiving approval from a panel of parents and staff.

"The most fun part of this is all the moms and dads and kids who have come up to tell me they voted,GÇ¥ said Rosencrans of winning best principal in a school news release. "These are passionate people and to be embraced by them has changed my life. It's made me laser-focused on what's really important in education and that is for every child to discover their passion and pursue it.GÇ¥

Rosencrans was honored during a science assembly at the Sky Valley Education Center on Monday, Dec. 14.
