Douglas Andrew Sackman Sr. – October 30, 1935 to January 26, 2018

Douglas Andrew Sackman Sr. of Startup, WA passed peacefully in his sleep on January 26 at 1:20am.  Our dad was a man of character and integrity.  He owned and operated Doug’s RV for 35 years.  He joined the Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War.  He was born to Andrew and Regine Sackman on October 30, 1935.  He moved to Startup, WA in 1941 where he lived for the duration of his life.  Our dad was a pillar of his community and will be missed by many people including:  family, friends, and anyone whose life he touched.

He is survived by sisters Verna Skorick and Vera Zabel, brother Donald Sackman, and five sons: Ed (Elizabeth), Bub (Gretchen), Doug Jr (Lisa), Brian (Laura), and Chris.  He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie, his parents, and four brothers: Ralph, LaVerne, Myron, and Dallas.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 25, at the Gold Bar Elementary School, 419 Lewis Ave, Gold Bar, WA 98251, from 12:00-3:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Doug’s name to Snohomish County Search and Rescue.  He was a longtime supporter and would certainly approve of this gesture.
