Eugene Paul Gatterman passed away on December 17, 2016 in Arlington, WA. He was born in Monroe, WA on December 18, 1936. Gene graduated from Monroe H. S. in 1955. In December of 1958 he married Barbara Laizure. His surviving children are Michael (Cherie) Gatterman, Kristine Gallant and Steve Gatterman.
Gene married Naomi Raplee in May of 1977. They were married 39 years. He is survived by Ronald Raplee and Suzanne, Charles (Patrice) Raplee, E. Wayne (Kathryn) Raplee and Kathy Ann Raplee.
Gene is also survived by his sister Barbara Foye, 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. Gene helped parent 15 foster children over the years and continued a wonderful family association with them.
He was a past president of the National Truss Council for four years and worked in the millwork industry for over 30 years. He started Gene’s Tax Service and built it up as his retirement job where he served many loyal customers for over 20 years.
He volunteered as a little league coach, a Cub Scout Pack Leader for 15 years and a volunteer firefighter for Monroe for two years and Snohomish for 35 years.
There will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Gleneagle Golf and Country Club, 7619 E. Country Club Dr., Arlington, from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. Donations may be made to the Arlington Fire Department in Gene’s memory.
