The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office reported last week it is still trying to identify the human remains found between Maltby and Monroe near State Route 522 on May 9.

Snohomish County Sheriff’s detectives from the Major Crimes and Collision Investigation Units headed to the intersection of Downes and Fales roads around 3 p.m. in the afternoon, according to an agency news release. A suitcase and blanket were also discovered at the scene.

The sheriff’s office reports crews had been cleaning litter from the side of the road when they came upon the remains. The agency announced the gender was unknown at the time.
