Experts to address mental health challenges facing veterans on Jan. 27

Monroe Library hosting free 90-minute forum

The Monroe Library will host a 90-minute panel discussion and Q&A session addressing mental health challenges facing veterans at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, in the library, 1070 Village Way. 

Four experts will discuss different techniques to treat post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and military sexual trauma, according to a news release.

Dan Overton is program coordinator for the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs Traumatic Brain Injury program and serves on the TBI Council of Washington; Arleen Gibson is founder of H3 Horses Healing Heroes, which connects veterans and horses in a therapeutic environment; Jim Bloss is retired from the military, and has worked the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Blue Ribbon Commission on Criminal Justice, Military Officers Association of America; and Ben Kendall is a certified music therapist at the Snohomish County Music Project.

The forum is part of Sno-Isle Libraries “Issues That Matter” series. Those who can’t make the free event, can livestream  it at facebook.com/SnoIsleLibraries.
