The first Family Pinewood Derby Day will be held at the Monroe Community Senior Center on Saturday, June 2.

The derby is being put on through a partnership between the Lions Club of Monroe, MCSC, the chamber and Monroe Boys & Girls Club.

The Lions Club built the track and will manage the race, and Evergreen Speedway is bringing its lead race car, according to a news release.

Registration is now open, and preregistration is required. The cost is $10. People can register for the race or as a sponsor at choosemonroe.com.

Check-in is at 11 a.m., and the race starts at noon. People are encouraged to come and watch for free.

There will be a hot dog, chips and drink combo available for $5.

The Monroe Community Senior Center is at 276 Sky River Parkway.
