FLAME Mission down in the weeds

Cathy Day stopped by the Volunteers of America Western Washington (VOA) Sky Valley Services Center last week with a group of volunteers from the FLAME Mission, who spent time tackling weed-ridden flowerbeds with energy and enthusiasm.

The FLAME Mission is a discipleship program for youth and families that performs a wide array of community service work. FLAME, which stands for Following the Lord and Ministering Everywhere, consists of congregation members from many different local churches. Members of Day's church, Crosswater Community Church, are actively involved in the FLAME Mission.

Day is married to Crosswater Lead Pastor Aaron Day, who came from Cascade Church in Monroe to pursue his calling in ministry. Crosswater Church and its members are community advocates, taking an active role during different community events and activities.

This past weekend a team of Crosswater parishioners volunteered to collect garbage during Sultan's Summer Shindig festival, signing up for two-hour shifts all weekend long.
