Flashback: Cascade Tunnel breakthrough

Under Capt. Jones, the pictured crew broke through into the Mill Creek Tunnel of the Great Northern Railroad's 7.8 mile tunnel under Stevens Pass on March 4, 1927. The tunnel was built by A. Guthrie & Company. Construction took three years and was completed on December 24, 1928.
