Flashback: Fern Bluff School

The Fern Bluff School (District 20) was four miles east of Monroe on the south side of Fern Bluff Road (now slightly more than a half-mile east of its intersection with U.S. 2). The school was built in 1901 by Cookson & Matthews. James S. Cookson was a Monroe carpenter. This photo is a copy taken from a 1918-1919 brochure about the school.
