Flashback: Great Northern Railway Depot

The Great Northern Railway began service through Monroe in the summer of 1893. This is Monroe's second Great Northern Depot, pictured the year it was built in 1910 on North Lewis Street. That depot was razed and replaced with a modular unit in 1972, and the station closed completely in 1976.
The Great Northern Railway became Burlington Northern in 1970 after a merger with Northern Pacific.
