Monroe's second Great Northern Railway depot was built in 1910. That depot was razed and replaced with a modular unit in 1972. The station closed completely in 1976.
The Great Northern Railway became Burlington Northern in 1970 after a merger with Northern Pacific. The Milwaukee line discontinued service through Monroe in 1973. Great Northern also had a branch line south through Cherry Valley to Tolt, which is now called Carnation. It nearly paralleled the route of SR 203.

I can't judge distance closely enough, but a spur track (known as the Ice Spur - still in place) was constructed in ca. 1916 which would have been at the very right edge of that building, or perhaps would have gone right thru the middle of it. I see no sign of that spur in the photo. The east end of the depot had a Porte Cochre attached to it in about 1922, and that is not shown in this picture either. So I would have to say it was taken between 1916 and 1922. I note by the shadows that the time is about noon. Train schedules varied a great deal over the years so it is hard to tell what year it is by train time, however.
