Focus on Seniors: Hand and arm massage on agenda at ECSC, other activities for seniors abound

Tonight, Tuesday night, is the weekly Boomerang meet up at the East County Senior Center. Slated for tonight on the Boomerang calendar is the basics of touch massage, concentrating on the hand and the forearm.
Instructor Richard Oliver will teach you the basic method to relieve tightened muscles in a classroom setting. The meet up is at 6:30 p.m. at the ECSC, 276 Sky River Parkway. The class is $3 but is free for members of the center.
A new play opens next week, as well. "Last of the Red Hot Lovers" opens March 1 at 8 p.m. at the Wagner Performing Arts Center, 639 W. Main Street; purchase tickets online at http://skyperformingarts.com/ then follow the link to Brown Paper Tickets. General admission is $12 for seniors, students and military, $14 for everyone else.
Don't forget to do your taxes! ECSC, along with AARP, is offering free help preparing your taxes. Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. you can bring in your paperwork and get all the help you need, but first make an appointment by calling (360) 794-6359.
Free legal advice! On the second and fourth Thursday, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., Michele Paratte offers a free 30-minute legal consultation. Paratte is a general practitioner who handles estate planning, family law, probate, landlord and tenant issues, among others. The free consultations are held at the ECSC, but please call ahead for an appointment at (360) 794-6359.
On Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. bring your laptop with you (ECSC has free WiFi ) and enjoy the vocal stylings of the Village Voices.
If you'd like to expand your circle of friends, come to the center any Tuesday at 10 a.m. and share a cup of joe and tasty treats. Come be social, meet new friends, hang out and surf the Internet (for free!).
