Focus on Seniors: Summertime means barbecue for all at the East County Senior Center

By Holly Glen Gearhart, Contributing Writer

Longer daylight hours and mild temperatures will make for an annual summertime event of food, family and fun at the East Count Senior Center this weekend.

ECSC will host their Backyard BBQ Bash on Saturday, June 28, starting at 5 p.m.

Eat barbecue from 5 GÇô 6:30 p.m and then work it all off dancing to the tunes of the Moonlight Swing Orchestra, known for their lively bebop and swinging sounds from the Big Band era.

Take a break from dancing and fill up again on dessert provided by Emeritus of Monroe, sure to tickle your sweet tooth.

Proceeds benefit the many ongoing programs at ECSC, a long-time fixture in Monroe.

Dress is casual and the price is affordable; tickets are $7 if purchased early and $9 at the door. There will be a cash bar of wine and beer and the soda machine will be stocked.

This event fills up fast so give the center a call ahead of time and grab those bargain tickets at (360) 794-6359, or email programs@eastcountyseniorcenter.org or stop by the East County Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway in Monroe.-á
