A four-car collision near Skykomish on U.S. 2 that seriously injured a Seattle man may have been alcohol-related, according to the Washington State Patrol.
At about 3:14 p.m. Wednesday, a Toyota 4Runner driven by an Everett man, 19, was headed west on U.S. 2 near milepost 55 when it crossed the centerline and struck the edge of a snowplow fastened to a 2002 International dump truck driven by a man, 60, of Skykomish. The Toyota truck rolled and struck a 2004 Volvo driven by a man, 47, of Seattle. He was seriously injured and was transported to Harborview.
His Volvo in turn struck a 2007 Acura driven by a Snohomish man, 29. He was not injured, nor was his passenger, 27, a woman from Snohomish. He was able to drive the vehicle from the scene.
The Toyota truck that crossed the centerline also had one passenger, a man, 20, of Mukilteo. Neither he nor the driver was injured. The dump truck driver also escaped injury, and his vehicle was unharmed.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but alcohol and/or drugs was listed as a factor.
