Heart's Roger Fisher teams up with The Voice's Austin Jenckes

Musicians Roger Fisher and Austin Jenckes boast pretty impressive resumes.

A Monroe resident, Fisher is perhaps best known for his role as a founding member of the band Heart, which earned him an induction into the Rock "n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. A singer and songwriter originally from Duvall, Jenckes earned fame for achieving top-10 status during the 2013 season of The Voice, a competitive singing reality show. Together, the two have been doing some collaborative writing and want to share the results during an intimate evening of acoustic music. -á -á

Set against the scenic backdrop of the Blue Boy West Golf Course, the show takes place at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. General admission tickets are $15 and $75 for VIP access. Included in the VIP package is a round of golf, exclusive seating, a pool party, autographed poster of Fisher and Jenckes and a goody bag. The event will showcase music by both Jenckes and Fisher as they swap stories and songs, playing independently and as a duet.

Located between Monroe and Sultan, Blue Boy offers the ideal spot for an end-of-summer musical interlude, Fisher said.

"There's fountains and waterfalls and it's a beautiful place to be,GÇ¥ Fisher said. "The chemistry of Austin and I playing together, I think, is really magical.GÇ¥

When Fisher saw Jenckes perform on The Voice, he was immediately impressed. Later, the two had an opportunity to play together briefly during a fundraising event in Duvall, and Fisher enjoyed the interaction so much that when he began to consider writing partners, Jenckes came to mind. He used social media to connect with Jenckes, who lives in Nashville with his wife and new baby.-á

"We have a lot of respect for each other,GÇ¥ Fisher said. "He's a great singer songwriter.GÇ¥

After Jenckes arrived in town and the two began working together, Fisher felt the need for some additional inspiration. They decided to hit the course at Blue Boy for an impromptu round of golf, which helped spur the creative process. Once they got back to Fisher's home studio, the music flowed much more readily, and a really great song came out, Fisher said.

It was while they were playing golf that they decided thinking about having a show at the course.

"We had a really pleasant time, and while we were there, we kind of talked about the possibility of playing there,GÇ¥ Fisher said.

In addition to story-telling and music by Fisher and Jenckes, Fisher plans to introduce the newest member of his band, singer and violinist Emily Bouvier, during the show. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase during the family-friendly event.-á
