Henry Herman Mest "HankGÇ¥


Henry Herman Mest "Hank,GÇ¥ age 90, of Everett, WA, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2013.
Hank was born to Henry J. Mest and Bertha F. Willhauck in St. Louis, MO on July 15, 1923. On September 4, 1954 Hank married Joan R. Crooks. Together they had three children; Elaine, H. Kevin, and Carl. Hank was actively involved in coaching soccer and baseball for both his sons' teams in St. Louis, MO. He was awarded the
Khoury Meritorious Service Award for dedicated service to the youth programs of the George Khoury Association.
Hank and his wife, Joan, loved to travel and were "snowbirds" for many years in Arizona. Hank was also a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans, having served his country during WWII. Hank was a great fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball club and played in their minor league system before the war.
Above all, Hank enjoyed being with his family. Hank is preceded in death by his wife, Joan R. Mest; parents, Henry and Bertha Mest; and sisters, Edith Smith and Ursula Donaldson. Hank is survived by his daughter, Elaine Thaete (Brian) of Monroe, WA; his sons, H. Kevin Mest (Betty) of Edmonds, WA, and Carl Mest (Rita) of Redmond, WA.-áHank is also survived by his grandchildren; Ann Milkowski (Stanislaw), Michelle McClintock (Alexander), Patrick Mest, Michael Thaete, Elena Mest, and his great-grandson Dimitri McClintock.
A viewing was held at Evergreen Funeral Home on Thursday, September 5, 2013 and a Memorial Mass for Hank was celebrated at Holy Rosary Church in Edmonds on Friday, September 6, 2013. Hank was buried at Tahoma National Cemetery.
