On March 5, the Monroe Historical Society will hold its quarterly-ámembership-ámeeting and-ápublic-áprogram. The event is at 6:30 p.m. at the Monroe Library (1070 Village Way).
In celebration of National Women's History Month and the-ásocieties-á2015 theme "Weaving the Stories of Women's Lives,GÇ¥ it will present a program on noteworthy women of Monroe, past and present.
The presentation will include a slideshow about influential women from the Skykomish Valley, along with a panel of speakers who will talk about their lives and answer audience questions. The panel will include former Monroe mayor, councilwoman and teacher, Donetta Walser, and 98-year-old Monroe pioneer Mabel Neisinger and her daughter Suzanne. Neisinger graduated from Monroe High School in 1936. She had several careers and lived through the roaring "20s, the Great Depression, WWII and the Vietnam War.-á
A short business meeting and election of officers will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages.
