A local organic farm is hosting a seasonal fundraiser for the Monroe Cold Weather Shelter, Finally Home Horse Rescue and a Monroe High School teen diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Holiday Festival at the Fields will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at The Fields at Willie Green's at 19501 Tualco Road.
Activities include stories with Mrs. Claus, winter hayrides, time to meet the animals and opportunities to make Christmas gifts for the homeless. A bazaar will be held in the renovated greenhouse with 28 Snohomish County vendors, many which are family businesses.
A booth will be set up with donated items being sold on behalf of MHS student Josie Alldredge. The money will go to paying her medical bills. So far about $5,840 has been raised of the $100,000 GoFundMe goal.
Socks, deodorant, mouthwash and new or gently used pillow cases are being requested for the Monroe Cold Weather Shelter, which is also in need of donations that will help clients get back on their feet and stay warm this winter, according to event planner Monica Francis. Families can also make cards for the homeless.
Attendees will be able to take part in a reindeer scavenger hunt. Participants will be asked to find all nine of Santa's helpers. They will be given a map when they enter the festival and can win prizes if they locate every one. Children who fill up their passports with 12 stamps can take home prizes as well.
