Homer Flickinger

Homer Flickinger On Tuesday, March 25, 2014 Homer Flickinger, who had lived for more than 65 years in Monroe, WA, changed residence to the presence of our Lord, the Creator of the universe. Homer was born October 30, 1918 as the oldest offspring of Amos and Ida Flickinger of Pretty Prairie, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, and also by siblings Mildred (Pretty Prairie, KS), Elmer (Pretty Prairie, KS) and Virgil (Inman, KS). He leaves behind siblings Melvin (Pretty Prairie, KS), Calvin (Glendale, AZ), Mary Ann Bonebrake (Topeka, KS), Chester (Denver, CO) and Theodore (Hutchinson, KS). Also remaining are his wife of 63 years, Beatrice (Senner) Flickinger (whom he loved very much!); his sons Wayne (Cindy) and Dale (Jeanette) of Monroe; Barry (Audrey) of Snohomish and daughter Donna (Al) Fadenrecht of Everett. On that date he had 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren along with many nephews and nieces and their descendants. After moving to Washington in 1946, Homer lived part of the first three years with relatives in Monroe and also in Everett, WA at the YMCA and began working at the Weyerhaeuser Lumber Company in Everett. In 1949 he moved to Monroe permanently. He retired 34 years later from that same company. He faithfully served as a member of Monroe Community Chapel (previously First Mennonite Church) for all the years he lived in Monroe. He was a devoted mission's supporter and enjoyed studying the Bible, reading, golfing and family game times. A brief graveside service for family and friends is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the IOOF Cemetery in Monroe. A memorial service followed by a fellowship/refreshment time is planned for 3 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at Snohomish Community Church, 13622 Dubuque Rd., Snohomish, WA 98290. A Homer Flickinger Memorial Mission Fund has been set up at Columbia Bank, Monroe, WA (Routing# 125108272, Acct# 1101896502), for anyone interested in contributing to some of the missionaries and missions projects Homer had faithfully supported for many years.
