Kids Cafe looks for volunteers to run summer lunch program

The Volunteers of America Western Washington (VOA) in Sultan is seeking volunteers to help with the Kids Caf+¬ free summer lunch program.

Designed to give low-income families continued access to healthy meals throughout the summer months, the Kids Caf+¬ free lunch program is made possible through a partnership between Food Lifeline and the VOA.-á

Beginning on Monday, June 15, lunch will be served in Sultan at the new Boys & Girls Club facility (705 First St.) and at Gold Bar Elementary School (419 Lewis Ave.) in Gold Bar.-á

The VOA is looking for volunteers to assemble the lunches, which will be handed out every day during the week. Volunteers will be needed to help serve the meals in both Sultan and Gold Bar.-á

Last year, the program incorporated 30 minutes of food distribution with 30 minutes of activities. A total of 2,291 lunches were served. -á
