Lady Turks upset Cedarcrest

By Aaron Johnson, Special to the Monitor.
The Sultan Turks girls' soccer team upset Cedarcrest, beating them at home, 2-0, for the first time in a decade.
Both teams came out hard in the beginning, with Sultan seeming to control most of the first half. The score was 0-0 at halftime.
In the 70th minute, Sultan scored on a set piece. Mallory Hockett sent the ball in to the box to Jazmen Griggs, who finished for the 1-0 lead. In the 80th minute (stoppage time), there was a scramble in the box. Alexis Griggs caught the keeper off her line and chipped in the goal to clinch the 2-0 win for Sultan. The second goal was assisted by Victoria Seidl.
The Sultan defense did a great job shutting down Cedarcrest and Sultan keeper Bailey Bierbrauer only had to make four saves while earning her second shutout of the season.
