Leonard Frank Axtman, born March 27, 1927 in Orrin, N. Dak., passed away on November 1, 2013 at home in Monroe, Wash.
Leonard farmed in North Dakota for eight years and retired from Scott Paper Co. after 22 years as mechanics supervisor. A longtime Monroe resident, Leonard co-owned and operated Monroe Golf Course for 19 years, and was a member of Monroe Cascade Aerie #2327.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sylvia; sons, Randolph Axtman, Duane Axtman, James Axtman (Ginger), Christopher Axtman (Geraldine), and John Axtman (Tamara); sisters, Leona Schmidt and Helen Hammers; brothers Raymond Axtman and John Axtman; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Michael Axtman, Regina Schneider, Bertha Hearst, and Albert Axtman; daughters, Antonette Axtman and Leonita Miller; two infant sons, and granddaughter Kimberley Axtman.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Leonard's life was held on Saturday, Nov. 9. at St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church in Monroe.
Memorials in Leonard's name may be made to St. Mary of The Valley Catholic Church.
