Letter to the Editor | Legacy family wants strong future, quality schools

During the 1800s, our great-grandfather, Claude Faulds, homesteaded a blueberry farm on Woods Creek Road. Since then, five generations of our family have lived in Monroe.

Our children now are growing up, and we want them to have the same quality of life and opportunities as we did. But just as important, whether you have children or not, good schools are a community resource that affect all of our futures. That's why the three Faulds brothers and our families are strongly urging you to support the school bond.

We actively work to improve our community. One is a volunteer at the Monroe Fire Department and is a member of the Monroe Lion's Club. One is a marine biologist, ensuring drinking water quality and productive fish hatchery runs in local riversheds. One of us manages a Northwest hardwoods store, providing quality wood products for new and remodeled buildings within the Pacific Northwest region. Two of us have volunteered both at local schools and within the district, assisting teachers and coaches during education and sports activities over the years.

Our actions are part of our commitment to safe, livable communities GÇô just like our "yesGÇ¥ vote for the school bond will be.
