Light Up Monroe this weekend is brighter than ever

Monroe's annual holiday celebration will include some new and expanded activities this year.
The Light Up Monroe and Annual Holiday Bazaar includes more music and vendors than ever before, and the Wine Walk will return with the addition of craft beers.
"We have 12 separate locations that are going to be serving craft beer and wine," said Annique Bennett, director of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, which is organizing that event. "And we are really excited about that."
The event kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, when the craft bazaar opens on Main Street next to the Main Clothing Company. Crafts for sale there will include jewelry, soaps, recycled glass art, hummingbird feeders, knitwear, a real estate drawing, specialty foods, bird seed feeders and more, with new vendors still signing up.
The Make Me Melt food truck will park in the Nationwide Insurance parking lot, selling melts and hot chocolate from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
At 4 p.m., the community tree lighting will take place at the corner of Main and Lewis Streets, and the wine and beer walk will begin. The Monroe Community Concert Band and Voices Northwest will perform at various locations, and 12 businesses along Main Street will offer beer and wine samples, as well as catered foods.
Wine Walk tickets cost $20 and include samples of each of the offerings, including beer brewed at Adam's Bistro and wine and beer from Clearview Spirits.
Hayrides start at 11 a.m. and take off from Union Bank, and from 4-8 p.m. get pictures with Santa at 108 E. Main St.
