Man found dead near downtown Monroe

Officers from the Monroe Police Department discovered a deceased male on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 17, near downtown Monroe.

The victim, identified as 44-year-old Alex E. Finney of Monroe, was found deceased in his white Dodge pickup truck on East McDougall Street. Officers discovered Finney after responding to a report of an unconscious male in a vehicle near the intersection of McDougall and Lewis streets.

Responding firefighters told police that the victim was in the front seat of the pickup, and attempts to wake him were unsuccessful. Firefighters broke the driver's side window, in order to gain unrestricted access to the individual.

Officers closed off a portion of East McDougall Street, in between Lewis and Ferry streets, to investigate the scene. The victim didn't have any obvious injuries, and there was no sign of foul play.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner was dispatched to the scene, and will determine the cause and manner of death.

The victim's next of kin were notified.
