Martinez trial pushed back again

The trial of former Monroe Police Officer Carlos Martinez has been pushed back for a second time. According to the prosecutor's office, the trial will begin on Sept. 14, in Snohomish County Superior Court.

Initially, the trial was scheduled to begin in fall 2014, but was delayed until February 2015.-á

This latest continuance was initiated by the defense.

The case will be heard by Judge Michael T. Downes, and is expected to take place from Sept. 14 through Sept. 25.

Martinez, a Monroe police officer for 20 years, resigned from the department in 2009. He is facing six counts of sexual misconduct with a minor including two counts of voyeurism, two counts of child molestation in the third degree, one count of rape of a child and one count of possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.-á

If convicted, Martinez could face up to 60 months in prison.
