Monroe country singer hosting second Christmas fundraiser

Dakota Neuman founded his Country Christmas show last year as a way to enhance his holiday food drive and provide additional support to the Sky Valley Food Bank. The event was a smashing success, helping him to bring in a total of 1,600 pounds of food and $700 in cash.

So he decided to do it again.

Dakota's second annual Country Christmas show takes place 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, in the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased online for $10, and will be available at the door for $11, or $10 with a nonperishable food item. Children under the age of five get in free. All proceeds from the show will benefit the Sky Valley Food Bank and the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center.

The show also features performances from the Monroe High School Choir, the West Coast Country Heat Dancers and dancers from Platinum Dance Center in Monroe.

In addition to collecting food for the Sky Valley Food Bank, the event will also serve as an official drop-off site for Toys for Tots. Nonperishable food items, toys and monetary donations will all be welcome at the show.

A recent graduate of Monroe High School, Neuman has been singing since he was 6 years old. Known as the Sky Valley's own country music sensation, Neuman performs regularly at local venues like Gold Dust Days in Gold Bar, Sultan's Summer Shindig Festival, Monroe's National Night Out, the Monroe Fair Days Parade and the Historic Everett Theatre.

He's opened for national acts during the Evergreen State Fair and has performed at Evergreen Speedway and at an Everett Aquasox game.

Over the summer and into fall, Neuman was a repeat performer during Molly Daniels' Farm to Table Farmers Market events.

Neuman won the 2015 Washington Nashville County Star championship in March, earning himself a check for $1,500 and the opportunity to perform on behalf of the Washington Nashville Country Star nonprofit organization at various venues across the state.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2464255. Monroe High School is located at 17001 Tester Road in Monroe.-รก
