Monroe High alum achieves Eagle rank with district support project

Bailey R. Sarto was awarded his Eagle rank in a Boy Scout Court of Honor on Dec. 29. Sarto joined scouts as a Cub Scout Tiger and earned the highest award, The Arrow of Light.

He continued on into Boy Scouts, progressing through the ranks and completing his Eagle Project in June. Sarto organized and built roof covers over the Marshal Field Baseball Dugouts for the Monroe School District, benefiting the Sky Valley Little League organization and other local youth.

Sarto, a 2015 graduate of Monroe High School, has a passion for baseball and is currently away playing ball on his college team.

Sarto would like to thank the many volunteers in the Boy Scout program who mentored him along the way: Scott Westra, Bart Smith, Cari Sarto, Ken Catron, Brian Franz and Scott Cavassa, who filled the roles of scoutmasters and den leaders in Monroe's Troop 53.

A special thank you to those who donated materials for the Eagle project, including Haight Roofing, New Vision Construction and Top Ten Sports. Also, a thank you to the many volunteers of the Mt. Baker Council BSA.

Sarto is the son of Scott and Cari Sarto.
