Monroe High School begins countdown to Homecoming

Homecoming week is here and Monroe High School is busy as ever! There are several activities going on at the high school GÇô many of which, MHS cordially invites you to attend! Homecoming week is always a special week enveloped with tradition, spirit, and fun GÇô activities MHS wants to share with the community. So, below is the schedule for Homecoming week:
Monday-Friday: Homecoming tickets will be sold during all lunches. If you have fines you won't be able to buy a ticket for the dance so make sure you take care of them! The tickets are $15 with ASB and $20 without. There will also be Homecoming game t-shirts for $10 being sold during lunches.
Monday-Tuesday: The whole school will be voting on this year's Homecoming King and Queen! Your 2014-2015 homecoming court consists of five Senior Princesses: Sarah Amador, Ally Barber, Holly Gombossy, Macey McGovern, and Lavinya Yap; five Senior Princes: Dillon Bull, Bennett Rolfson, Devin Sepich, Jonny Vorachak, and Andrew Zimmerman; Senior Jester: Tucker Leidholm; Senior Wizard: Cassie Engvall; Freshman Count and Countess: Tucker Norton and Mariah Billerbeck; Sophomore Count and Countess: JD Merwin and Cierra Mattern; and Junior Count and Countess: Riley Gunter and Janelle Groeneweg!
Tuesday, Oct. 14: The spirit week theme for Tuesday is Tye Dye Day! There will be a girls' varsity soccer game at home at 7:30 p.m. versus Kamiak so put on your orange and black and come cheer for the Monroe soccer girls!
Wednesday, Oct. 15: The spirit week theme for Wednesday is America Day so wear your red, white, and blue! There's PSAT testing going on in the morning for sophomores and any interested juniors so there will be a three hour late start for freshman, juniors, and seniors. There will also be the annual powder puff game at 7 p.m. at the high school, so come watch the senior girls play the junior girls in flag football!
Thursday, Oct. 16: The spirit week theme for Thursday is Sunday's Best, so wear a nice outfit. This spirit theme is in honor of the Homecoming coronation assembly at 9:30 a.m. in the main gym GÇô guests must be there by 9:15. Later in the evening, there is a home, girls' varsity volleyball game at 7 p.m. in the MHS main gym versus Snohomish!
Friday, Oct. 17: Friday is the busiest day of the week! The spirit theme is orange and black, of course, but there is a little twist that was added! Freshman and sophomores wear black and juniors and seniors wear orange. There will be a pep assembly at 9:20 a.m. in the main gym GÇô any guests are welcome! Later on, Bearcat Fair will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the roundabout between the 100 pod and the field. Big Dog's Hotdogs will be there along with Yoforit Frozen Yogurt and kettle corn! Wristbands are only $2 and are required to play the games and do the activities! So come have fun with MHS clubs, students, and the community before the Homecoming game at 7 p.m. against Cascade High School! In addition, there will be a spectacular halftime show that you won't want to miss!
Saturday, Oct. 18: Dance day! The Homecoming dance is from 8 to 11 p.m. in the commons and the theme is A Whole New World. To get in make sure you BRING YOUR TICKET AND PHOTO ID!
In addition, ASB is in the process planning the Veteran's Day assembly that will be held on November 6. If you know anyone who wants to come and be honored or anyone with pictures and information about their service, email mhs.veterans@gmail.com.
It is a busy week at MHS. There has been a lot of hard work, dedication, and time put into this week so please come out and support the students at MHS as much as you can!
