Children's Programs:
Ready Readers, Baby and Me Storytime: Tuesdays, April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, 10:30 a.m. Stories, songs, rhymes, and activities that inspire a love of reading. Playtime follows. For newborns through 18 months. Caregiver required.
Ready Readers, Toddler Storytime: April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, 10 a.m. AND 11 a.m. Stories, music and movements that nurture the desire to read in toddlers. Playtime or craft may follow. For ages 18 months to 3 years. Caregiver required.
Ready Readers, Preschool Storytime: Thursdays, April 3, 10, 17 and 24, 10 a.m. Books, sing-along songs, and creative activities that prepare young minds for reading. For ages 3-5.
Ready Readers, Preschool Storytime (Bilingual): Thursdays, April 3, 10, 17 and 24, 11 a.m. Books, sing-along songs, and creative activities that prepare young minds for reading. For ages 3-5. Presented in English and Spanish.
SPRING SPECTACULAR: Monster Madness: Monday, April 7, 2 p.m. Mermaids, Bigfoot, dragons, unicorns and the Loch Ness monster'are they real? School-age children will develop their creativity, talents, and love of learning.
Crafternoon: Tuesday, April 8, 1 p.m. Get your spring craft fix! Only your imagination will limit where your creativity will lead you. Develop and strengthen artistic skills in an atmosphere of discovery, collaboration and fun.
Pi+¦ata Party, Part 1: Wednesday, April 9, 2 p.m. In this two-day workshop, learn more about the history of pi+¦atas and make your own out of paper-m+óch+¬. For school-age children.
Pi+¦ata Party, Part 2: Thursday, April 10, 2 p.m. Part two of the pi+¦ata party will have school-age children decorating their dry paper-m+óch+¬ figures. For school-age children.
Movie Matinee: Friday, April 11, 2 p.m. Watch a movie at the library; a DVD of the movie will be raffled off as a prize at the end.
Lego-« Animation: Saturday, April 12, 2 p.m. Explore stop motion animation as Lukas Allenbaugh from the Clay Animation Network teaches you how to bring your LEGO-« to life using iPads. Space is limited; registration required.
Reading with Rover: Saturday, April 26, 11 a.m. The Reading with Rover program is designed to help kids strengthen reading skills and improve reading confidence.
Teen Programs:
Monroe Library Teen Advisory Board: Tuesday, April 1, 3:30 p.m. Enjoy some snacks and share ideas for library programs, purchases and improvements and talk about teen concerns and books while earning volunteer credit.
Buttons and Marble Magnets: Tuesday, April 15, 3 p.m. Make buttons and marble magnets and enjoy some snacks. Learn about library resources that can help you with your own DIY craft adventures.
Teen Movie: Thursday, April 24, 2:30 p.m. Explore contemporary cinema with other teens. Participants will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a copy of the movie DVD. The film may not be suitable for children under the age of 12.
Adult Programs:
Raising Chickens for Eggs and Meat: Saturday, April 12, 10:30 a.m. Local hobby farmer Josh Hanson will provide you with the information you need to start your very own flock.
Artisan Bread Class: Saturday, April 26, 2 p.m. Learn to make artisan bread at a workshop sponsored by the Monroe Library and held at the East County Senior Center, 276 Sky River Pkwy. in Monroe. The class features live demonstration, handouts, recipes and free samples. Preregister online or by calling the library.
