Children's Programs:
Ready Readers, Baby and Me Storytime: Tuesdays, Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28, 10:30 a.m. Stories, songs, rhymes, and activities that inspire a love of reading. Playtime follows. For newborns through 18 months. Caregiver required.
Ready Readers, Toddler Storytime: Jan. 8, 15, 22 and 29, 10 a.m. AND 11 a.m. Stories, music and movements that nurture the desire to read in toddlers. Playtime or craft Jan. follow. For ages 18 months to 3 years. Caregiver required.
Ready Readers, Preschool Storytime: Thursdays, Jan. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, 10 a.m. Books, sing-along songs, and creative activities that prepare young minds for reading. For ages 3-5.
Ready Readers, Preschool Storytime (Bilingual): Thursdays, Jan. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, 11 a.m. Books, sing-along songs, and creative activities that prepare young minds for reading. For ages 3-5. Presented in English and Spanish.
Reading with Rover: Saturday, Jan. 25, 11 a.m. The Reading with Rover program is designed to help kids strengthen reading skills and improve reading confidence.
WINTER EXTRAVAGANZA:
Worlds of Costumes: Thursday, Jan. 2, 1 p.m. Learn facts and hear stories about costumes. Come dressed up as your favorite character or come as yourself. A craft is included. For school age children 5 and up.
Crazy, Foamy, Bouncy Fun with Chemistry: Friday, Jan. 3, 1 p.m.
Explore exploding elephant toothpaste. Discover if raisins can dance. Experiment with bouncing blobs. Chemical Kevin will visit. For school age children 6 and up.
Volts and Jolts with Pacific Science Center: Saturday, Jan. 4, 1 p.m. Electricity is illuminated in a series of shocking experiments. Explore the properties of electricity with a hair-raising Van de Graaf generator and Tesla coil. For school age children 5 and up.
Teen Programs:
Junior Monroe Wednesday Writers: Wednesdays, Jan. 8, 15, 22 and 29, 4:30 p.m. Support and guidance for teen writers, led by published author Bernadette Pajer and Teen Librarian Lindsay Hanson. All writers in grades 6-12 are welcome.
Monroe Library Teen Advisory Board: Tuesday, Jan. 7, 3:30 p.m.
Enjoy some snacks, share ideas for library programs, discuss books and earn volunteer credits.
Teen Gaming: Tuesday, Jan. 14, 3 p.m. Enjoy Wii, XBOX Kinect and PlayStation 2 games including Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution, Mario Kart and more. Board games and snacks available. For ages 12 to 18.
Teen Movie: -áTuesday, Jan. 28, 3 p.m. Watch a movie and discuss contemporary cinema with other teens and enjoy some snacks. Participants will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a copy of the DVD.
Adult Programs:
Wednesday Writers: Wednesdays, Jan. 8, 15, 22 and 29, 7 p.m. Weekly support and writing guidance, by published author Bernadette Pajer. All writers welcome, fiction and non-fiction.
Create a Targeted Resume Workshop: Monday, Jan. 13, 2 p.m. Learn to develop an effective, targeted resume by identifying and packaging the skills that employers value. Presented by WorkSource Snohomish County. Preregistration required.
Monroe Book Group, "Invisible Bridge:GÇ¥ Tuesday, Jan. 14, 7 p.m. This month's book selection is "Invisible BridgeGÇ¥ by Julie Orringer. Copies are available for checkout at the Customer Service Desk.
Friends of the Monroe Library Meeting: Tuesday, Jan. 21, 7 p.m.
Guests and new members are always welcome. The Friends help raise funds for library programs.

Candy Experiments GÇô Monday, Jan. 27, 11 a.m. Candy Experiments teaches you a fun new use for your candy. Based on the book by Loralee Leavitt. For ages 5-12.

Friends of the Sultan Library GÇô Thursday, Jan. 16, 9:30 a.m. Join with other community members to enhance your local library through a variety of fundraisers, including book sales, bake sales, and more.
