Monroe Lip Sync: Fake singing for real cause

A group of moms got together in 2004 to create the Monroe Lip Sync to provide scholarships for Monroe High School students, and are promising just as much fun and entertainment for this year's performance 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in the Wagner Performing Arts Center.

There are four age categories for the lip sync ' elementary, middle school, high school and adult ' with cash prizes for first- through fourth-place winners in each division. The remaining funds raised go toward scholarship awards. Monroe Lip Sync has awarded more than $25,000 in scholarships so far.

The cost to attend is $5. The Wagner Performing Arts Center is at 639 W. Main St., Monroe.
