Monroe man missing after jumping in river near Eagle Falls

A 24-year-old Monroe man is missing and likely drowned after jumping in the water near Eagle Falls on Monday afternoon.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 report that came in just before 4 p.m. on Memorial Day, stating the man had jumped in near Eagle Falls, in the south fork of the Skykomish River, and did not resurface. Eagle Falls is located between Index and Baring. 

A dive team searched the area, but operations were suspended last night and will resume this morning.

According to a tweet from Gold Bar Fire District 26, the rescue switched to recovery around 5:30 p.m.
