Monroe Middle School runs up wins at track finals

The Monroe Middle School track team competed in the North County South Division Finals at Lake Stevens High School on Thursday, May 24.

More than 80 athletes qualified to compete in the district finals against Cavelero, Valley View, Centennial and Lake Stevens middle schools.

Monroe seventh grade girls took the title as league champions, while the eighth grade boys team placed second.

Here is a list of students who placed first in their events:

• Josh Gunter, eighth grade boys 200 meters (24.83)

• Declan Kirby, eighth grade boys 110 meter hurdles (17.80)

• Aleksei Price, eighth grade boys shot put (38’6”)

• Megan Hurley, seventh grade girls 800 meters (2:39)

• Brook Boroughs, seventh grade girls shot put (25’8”)

• Erica Lilleberg, seventh grade girls high jump (4’8”)

• Annalee Magelsen, Gwyneth Kelley, Megan Hurley and Emma Brennen, seventh grade girls 4x1 relay (55:20)
