Monroe Police arrest driver in rollover collision

Gold Bar man facing DUI charge pending blood draw

By Brandon Macz

A 20-year-old Gold Bar man is believed to have been under the influence when he drove his convertible through a fence in the 19100 block of Rainier View Road in Monroe, rolling it down an embankment and ending up on its top near the edge of a retention pond.

Monroe Police were dispatched to the scene at 5:36 a.m. Sunday, April 16, finding the upside down convertible, according to Debbie Willis, MPD administrative director.

Officers stopped another vehicle that was leaving the scene, finding the Gold Bar man in the back seat with injuries to his head, according to Willis. His friends told officers they’d received a call from him, stating he’d been involved in a collision and needed a ride.

The 20-year-old driver was transported to EvergreenHealth Monroe for treatment of his injuries. He also was arrested for DUI, and charges are pending the results of a blood draw.
