Monroe police arrest Let's Play! Cafe burglary suspect

Monroe police officers arrested a 29-year-old Startup man they believe to be responsible for the Feb. 14 burglary at Let's Play! Caf+¬ in Monroe.

Nearly $4,000 in cash and merchandise was stolen from the North Lewis Street arcade sometime after it closed on Sunday, Feb. 14. There was no sign of forced entry, which led Let's Play! owners David and Michelle Shoemaker to believe that the thief had hidden inside after Michelle closed for the night. Michelle arrived at the arcade on Monday morning, Feb. 15, to find an empty, broken cash register and expensive Magic: The Gathering cards missing from a display case.

According to a news release from the Monroe Police Department, detectives received several tips since the incident that led to the arrest, including reports the suspect admitted responsibility for the crime. Reports state the suspect told witnesses "he was probably on his way back to prison because he had made some "amateur' mistakes.GÇ¥

The suspect was arrested on Thursday, April 14, for allegedly hiding against an arcade game until the facility had closed for the night and stealing cash and merchandise. He was booked into Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of burglary in the second degree.
