Monroe Police are still looking for whoever fired shots in the 200 block of East Main Street last Sunday.
Officers were dispatched to an assault weapon call that came in just before 11 p.m. Nov. 19, according to a department news release. They arrived and spoke with a married couple, who said they had seen a passenger car being followed by a Dodge pickup truck.
Coming from the bed of the vehicle were “smoke stack style exhaust pipes,” according to the release. The husband and wife told law enforcement they believe the shots were fired by someone from the passenger car.
The witnesses said three rounds went off. Officers were pointed toward the Cascade Animal Clinic on South Ferry Street, according to the release. As they walked that direction, they found three .45-caliber shell casings, which would not have come from an assault weapon.
Police didn't find the truck or the passenger car. No damage was done to any shops, homes or vehicles parked in the area.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Monroe Police Department at 360-794-6300. Anonymous information may be left on the department’s tip line at 360-863-4600.
