The City of Monroe is currently seeking applicants to fill a number of boards and commissions vacancies.
One Ethics Board member is needed. It is a three-year term which ends December, 2016. Ethics board members investigate, conduct hearings and render advisory opinions concerning accusations against city officials of violations of ethics or conflicts of interest; they also review and recommend periodic updates to the city's ethics policy and its applicability.
A Library Board member is also sought. A library board member advises the City Council and Sno-Isle Regional Library System on the operation of the Monroe Library; serves as a key liaison between the two agencies and works with the library system to develop long-range plans for library services in Monroe. It is a five-year term which ends December, 2018.
The city is also looking for one Park Board member for a four-year term ending December, 2017. This member advises the City Council on the management, supervision, improvement, and budgeting for parks and recreation facilities and programs; also reviews the Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan, assists with new park sites, and advises the City Council on capital projects in city parks.
Finally there is one vacancy on the Planning Commission. This is a four-year term which ends December, 2017. The Planning Commission reviews and makes recommendations regarding the physical development of the city; considers both long-range and current plans, as well as development regulations and works with the City Council in balancing environmental concerns with those of the city.
