Children's Programs:

Ready Readers, Baby and Me Storytime: Tuesdays, Nov. 4, 18 and 25, 10:30 a.m. Stories, songs, rhymes, and activities that inspire a love of reading. Playtime follows. For newborns through 18 months. Caregiver required.
 
Ready Readers, Toddler Storytime: Wednesdays, Nov. 5, 12, 19 and 26, 10:30 a.m. Stories, music and movements that nurture the desire to read in toddlers. Playtime or craft may follow. For ages 18 months to 3 years. Caregiver required.
 
Ready Readers, Preschool Storytime: Thursdays, Nov. 6, 13 and 20, 10 a.m. Books, sing-along songs, and creative activities that prepare young minds for reading. For ages 3-5.
 
Ready Readers, Preschool Storytime (Bilingual): Thursdays, Nov. 6, 13 and 20, 11 a.m. Books, sing-along songs, and creative activities that prepare young minds for reading. For ages 3-5. Presented in English and Spanish.

Reading with Rover: Saturday, Nov. 22, 11 a.m. The Reading with Rover program is designed to help kids strengthen reading skills and improve reading confidence.
 
Family Programs:

Flannel Story Workshop: Friday Nov. 7, 10:30- 11:30 a.m. Learn how to make favorite stories come to life with fun flannel shapes. Materials and preschool activities provided. For children and families.
 
Drop-In Craft:Monday, Nov. 10, 6:30-8:30 p.m.-áEnjoy a craft activity to make and take. Plus, discover useful library crafting resources. For children and families.
LEGO-« Lab: Friday, Nov. 14, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Build using LEGO-« and K'NEX. This program is designed to promote discovery and self-directed learning. For school-age children and families.
Pajama Storytime/Cuentos y Pijamas: Monday, Nov. 24, 7- 7:45 p.m. Come wearing pajamas for stories, songs, finger-plays, and fun. A craft may follow. For children and families.
Teen Programs:
Monroe Teen Advisory Board: Monday, Nov. 3, 4-5 p.m. Meet new people, help develop library programs, discuss teen concerns and talk about books. All while earning volunteer credits. Snacks will be provided.
Teen Movie: Thursday, Nov. 6, 3-5:30 p.m. Join other teens in a viewing of a movie rated PG-13. One teen viewer will win a DVD of the movie. Snacks provided.
DIY Crafts for Teens: Thursday, Nov. 13, 3-4:30 p.m. Create mini LED key ring flashlights and other crafts. Work on the project together and enjoy snacks. Also, learn about library resources that can help your creative sparks grow.
 
Teen Gaming, Got Game?: Tuesday, Nov. 18, 3-4:30 p.m.Unwind after school by playing games with other teens by playing Mario Kart 8 on the Wii, or go old-school and play some board games. Snacks provided.
Book-It Repertory Theatre presents Danger: Books! Thursday, Nov. 20, 7-8 p.m.Using book text as dialogue the professional actors of Book-It Repertory will bring alive selections of books banned or challenged in the United States. The performance will be followed by a discussion about censorship and the First Amendment facilitated by the Book-It group. For teens and adults.
Adult Programs:
Growing Healthy Children: A STARS Training Series:Tuesday, Nov. 4, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.Explore the connection between creativity and early literacy while playing with paint, play dough, and other art materials. 2 STARS Credits.
Safety Strategies: Preparing for Winter Storm Weather: Wednesday, Nov. 5, 7- 8 p.m. Dara Salmon of the Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management will help you prepare yourself, your family and your home from the fallout of windstorms and flooding, as well as upcoming winter weather conditions.
Book-a-Librarian: Tech Session: Tuesdays, Nov. 3, 10, 17 and 24, all day.Personal, one-on-one tech help session on anything from basic computer skills to getting the most out of your library card. Bring your own device or let us provide one for you to practice on. Please preregister online or by phone. Note: The library cannot provide hardware assistance with your devices, but can show you how to use library resources to find help with repairs.
Turn on the Tech: Computer Basics GÇô Internet 101: Wednesday, Nov. 12,5-6 p.m. Internet 101 will help you get linked to the power of the Internet.
NaNoWriMo Write-In: Saturday, Nov. 15,10 a.m.-3 p.m.For National Novel Writing Month spend time at the Monroe Library with other like-minded authors. A pizza lunch will be provided. Registration required. Registration ends Nov. 13 at midnight. For all ages.
Seasons Shopping: Consumer savvy shopping with your library card: Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1-2 p.m.Learn how to use your library card to find that perfect something for everyone on your list while saving your credit card from the post-holiday blues.
Introduction to Windows 8: Friday, Nov. 21, 2-3:30 p.m.Bring your Windows 8 laptop or tablet in to the library and get expert tips, tricks, and one-on-one help navigating your new operating system.
Author Judith Quinton Book Signing Event: Saturday, Nov. 22, 1- 3 p.m.Monroe resident Judith Quinton will be available to sign copies of her book, "Quintessential Knits for Baby.GÇ¥

A World of Sweets in Washington State: Saturday, Nov. 8, 2 p.m. The diverse range of sweets we enjoy across Washington state reveals much about our shared history and culture. Anthropologist Julia Harrison will encourage a level of understanding about the ways in which sweet foods shape our relationships and reveal our priorities.
Getting Started with eBooks and other Downloadable Content: Thursday, Nov. 13, 12:30 GÇô 2 p.m.An overview of various downloadable library resources. Ample time will be provided for device-specific questions. Please bring a valid library card in good standing, your eReader device, and any passwords, Amazon account information, Adobe IDs, or other information required for your device. Coffee and cookies provided.
