Monroe teen critical following Saturday night vehicular assault case

A 16-year-old Monroe girl is in critical condition at Providence Hospital, after a man allegedly drove a stolen Subaru Legacy through a stop sign into another vehicle on Saturday, finally coming to a stop after striking three vehicles in a used car lot.
The Monroe Police Department reports Makia K. Braa, 21, of Snohomish was driving eastbound on West Main Street in a '91 Honda Accord around 2 a.m. Saturday with a 16-year-old passenger.
Jarid J. Castillo, 28, of Monroe was allegedly speeding southbound on North Madison Street, when he reportedly ran a stop sign at West Main and struck Braa's vehicle hard enough to spin it 180 degrees.
Police report Castillo kept driving, striking three vehicles in a used car lot, and then fleeing the area. A Snohomish County Sheriff's K9 tracked Castillo to the Lewis Street boat launch, where he was arrested. The Subaru he was driving was reported stolen shortly after the collision.
Castillo was booked into Snohomish County Jail on vehicular assault and possession of a stolen vehicle after being treated for his injuries at EvergreenHealth of Monroe.
Braa sustained minor injuries and was treated at EvergreenHealth, but his-ápassenger suffered a life-threatening head injury and had to be transported to Providence in Everett.Photo courtesy of Monroe Police A man allegedly driving a stolen vehicle reportedly ran a stop sign at West Main Street, striking this '91 Honda Accord and hospitalizing a 16-year-old Monroe girl.
