Monroe's Music in the Park closes on another sunny day

For a second year in a row, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce Music in the Park series at Lake Tye ended with sunshine and dancing, as community members gathered to enjoy the final performance of the season.

The show featured the Dana Osborn Band, a four-piece ensemble from Snohomish County that specializes in a mixture of danceable tunes from a variety of musical eras. Headed up by guitarist and lead singer Dana Osborn, the band features Mike Branvold on bass, Jon Steven on guitar and Kaeden Bodyfelt on the drums. The high-energy band dazzled the crowd with tunes by Tom Petty, David Bowie, Bad Company and Johnny Cash, along with many other dance classics.-á

Osborn, a professional musician since he was 12 years old, also plays original music, and is working on his third CD. He enjoyed the scenic beauty of Lake Tye Park and had a great time performing in Monroe, he said.-á -á

The grassy area below the stage was filled with parents, kids and plenty of four-legged family members. Sky Valley residents brought chairs or stretched out on blankets and relaxed.-á -á

The event was sponsored by Windermere Monroe, and included food from Big Dogs Hot Dog Joint and beverages by Sharinabeans. The beer garden was operated by Monroe's Route 2 Taproom and Ale House and wine was served by grocery outlet.

Music in the Park is made possible through a partnership between the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and the Monroe Parks Department, with supporting business sponsorships. For more information about the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, visit choosemonroe.com. -á -á
