A 60-year-old Leavenworth woman died after in Skykomish last Thursday afternoon, after her motorcycle crossed the center line on State Route 2 and collided head-on with a Ford transit van traveling eastbound and caught fire.

The Washington State Patrol reports it responded around 3:44 p.m. Dec. 7 to near Milepost 51 for the collision. Karen J. Hagopian was declared dead at the scene and her 2014 Harley Davidson Tri-Glide Ultra motorcycle was totaled, according to WSP. She had been wearing a helmet. No one else was injured.

WSP reports Hagopian had been traveling westbound, but drifted across the center line and collided with a transit van being driven by an Edgewood man, which then caused her motorcycle to reenter the westbound lane, where she was struck by an SUV.

It is currently unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor, according to WSP.
