Multiple injuries in SR 522 head-on collision; infant avoids major harm


 
The Monroe Police Department reports several people were hospitalized ' two with serious injuries ' after a head-on collision on State Route 522 around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police report a 17-year-old Snohomish driver was eastbound on SR 522 in a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, exiting to State Route 2, when she crossed the centerline and collided with a 2012 Subaru Impreza in the westbound on ramp to SR 522, driven by 38-year-old Karen A. Gunn of Seattle.
Gunn's passengers included her sister, brother-in-law and 15-month-old niece.
The infant was secured in a car seat, according to the MPD, and uninjured. She was transported to EvergreenHealth Monroe, where her mother was treated for minor injuries. The child's father was first taken to EvergreenHealth with serious injuries, but later transported to Providence Medial Center of Everett.
The MPD lists as unknown whether the man was wearing a seatbelt, and the same for the 17-year-old driver who crossed the centerline. The MPD reports she was also taken to Providence with serious injuries.
It is also unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
Gunn sustained minor injuries and was taken to EvergreenHealth.
The MPD is looking for another passenger from the Impreza, a chocolate lab named Zaley, the dog running from the scene. If located, call 911.
