One of eight wrestlers qualified to state this season, Martinez lost this punishing round to finish third in the state.
Sultan Turk Sophomore Jamell Carroll, at 132 pounds, presses Adrian Morales from Granger in the semi -final bout at the MAT Classic XXVII championships. One of eight Turks to go to state, Carroll lost in the final seconds of a hard-fought bout by one point to finish third in the state.
The Sultan Turks brought home two third-place finishes, and was the seventh team overall in the 1A Washington State MAT Classic XXVII championships in the Tacoma Dome on Saturday, Feb. 21. David Woo and James Mackenzie finished fourth,-áMorgan Yates at sixth and Matt Baller finished eighth.
