Monroe Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Shell Station in the 13800 block of Fryelands Boulevard early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the station around 1:45 a.m. on Jan. 7, where an employee described the incident.

He said he was in the back room when the suspect came in, so we went to greet him, according to a news release.

The man said the suspect was wearing a black hoodie, dark clothes and a Guy Fawkes mask, and demanded money from the clerk at gunpoint.

After the clerk removed the cash drawer from the register, the suspect took it and left the store, heading toward Lake Tye, according to the release.

Police report a similar robbery report had been made 30 minutes prior to the Shell Station hold-up at a Chevron station in the 21500 block of Bostian Road. The description and photos of the suspect appear to be the same.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact MPD at 360-794-6300, or leave anonymous information on the tip line at 360-863-4600.
