The Board of Commissioners for Public Hospital District No. 1, Snohomish County will be deciding on the future of Valley General Hospital, and encourage District residents to attend the October 30, 2014 Board Meeting as they review and discuss the proposed Phase 3 - Interlocal Agreement: Strategic Alliance Agreement.
On September 26, 2012 Valley General Hospital announced its intent to affiliate with EvergreenHealth. On December 4, 2012 both Boards of Commissioners approved and signed the Interlocal Agreement, setting the foundation for the affiliation of the two entities. The Interlocal Agreement contains three phases of development toward affiliation:
Phase 1 GÇô Valley General Hospital became an affiliate of EvergreenHealth. EvergreenHealth opened a primary care clinic on the Valley General Hospital campus, thereby providing a stronger connection between the two organizations while providing patients accessibility to services not offered at Valley General.
Phase 2 GÇô Following the passing of the Levy Lid Lift in 2013, the negotiations continued regarding the affiliation structure that would take place in Phase 3. Additionally, Monroe Women's Clinic and Evergreen Orthopedics became EvergreenHealth clinics, further establishing the EvergreenHealth commitment to this area.
Phase 3 GÇô This phase establishes further integration of Valley General Hospital into the EvergreenHealth system. An Affiliation Governance Board will be formed and will become the governing entity over Valley General Hospital's operational functions, including decisions such as the services provided in Monroe. The Commissioners of Public Hospital District No. 1, Snohomish County will retain certain powers and will continue to be the governing entity over the District.
The goal is to have Phase 3 affirmed and signed by both Boards of Commissioners in November 2014 which would provide a clean transition after the end of the year, the fiscal year end of both entities.
