Public utility district board finds new CEO

The Snohomish County Public Utility District Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, Aug. 12, tapped Craig Collar to be its new chief executive officer and general manager, replacing Steve Klein, who retired this spring.

The PUD board will make its final approval at its Aug. 25 meeting, with Collar's first day being Sept. 1. Prior to this position, Collar has been assistant general manager of Power, Rates and Transmission Management since fall 2012. He also spent 16 years working for the Kimberly-Clark Corporation and was nuclear submarine officer for the U.S. Navy.

Collar has an MBA from Colorado State University and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Montana State University.

"I've been a customer of Snohomish PUD for 18 years and have a keen appreciation of the importance of the work we do in serving our customers from the smallest to the largest.GÇ¥
