A time-honored Sultan tradition returned last week as the Sultan High School homecoming parade brought a flurry of sound and color downtown.-á
The homecoming parade, which has been going on for as long as anyone can remember, was cancelled last year due to uncompleted road construction along Fourth Street. This year it returned, led by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department, Sultan Mayor Carolyn Eslick and the award-winning Sultan High School Marching Band, conducted by music teacher Jill Sumpter.
The entire high school got into the spirit of the parade, which proceeded south on Fourth Street, east on Main and north on Eighth back to the high school. The parade featured various aspects of the school, including the Sultan Lady Turks soccer team, Turks football players, Sultan High School cheerleaders, the Sultan Turk mascot and the 2015 Homecoming king and queen, Nicholas Sorgen and Ayla Burchfield.
