Robert G. Blomster passed away on June 12, 2016 at the age of 91. He was born in Superior, Wisconsin in 1925 and grew up during the Great Depression. He was also part of the "Greatest Generation,GÇ¥ serving in the Navy during WWII in the lighter-than-air unit as a technician on blimps. He used the GI bill to attend the University of Washington where he earned his degree in Education with a minor in Art and History. His first teaching job was in 1951 in Monroe, WA. He married Nancy Hunter in 1951 and they had two daughters, Judy (Doug Schaad) and Gail (Tom Jenko). After Nancy died in 1956 he married a widow, Patricia Duff with three children, Ron (Polly Wangen Blomster, deceased), Diane, (Robert Horning), Brian (Sande Holm Blomster) in 1957. They added two more children to their family, Irene (Robert Rommel) and Jenny (Lance Caros). Dad spent his entire teaching career in Monroe as a teacher, guidance counselor and high school principal. He retired in 1981 after a 30-year career. He and Pat enjoyed their retirement years to the fullest by traveling to many parts of the United States, going on cruises, spending two months each winter in La Quinta, CA, annual family reunions at Ft. Worden, vacationing a week each summer on the Oregon Coast and enjoying their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad had many gifts and talents but it was the little things he did that made a difference. We all miss him. A celebration of his life will be held on July 17th from noon-3:30pm at the Red Hook Brewery in Woodinville, 14300 NE 145th St., 98072.
